Description

This quick and flavorful stir-fried shrimp and broccoli recipe combines tender shrimp and crisp broccoli florets in a savory sauce made with soy, oyster sauce, honey, and aromatic garlic and ginger. Ready in just 20 minutes, it’s an easy and nutritious meal perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups broccoli florets

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Aromatics and Garnishes

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Set aside for later use.
  2. Cook the shrimp: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Stir-fry broccoli: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Toss in the broccoli florets and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender-crisp and bright green.
  4. Add aromatics: Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet with the broccoli and cook for 1 minute until fragrant, stirring to combine.
  5. Combine shrimp and sauce: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and pour the prepared sauce over everything. Stir well to coat the shrimp and broccoli evenly with the sauce.
  6. Finish cooking: Cook the mixture for 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and the sauce has slightly thickened, enhancing the flavors.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, increase or add more red pepper flakes according to taste.
  • To keep broccoli crispier, do not overcook it; tender-crisp is ideal.
  • This recipe pairs well with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
  • Frozen shrimp can be used; just thaw and pat dry before cooking.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer a less salty dish.
