Ingredients
Scale
Steak
- 2 steaks (filet mignon, ribeye, or your favorite cut)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for searing steak)
Shrimp Scampi
- 12 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons butter (divided)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
- 1/2 cup dry white wine (or chicken broth)
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
- Season the Steaks: Generously season both sides of the steaks with salt and pepper to enhance their flavor.
- Sear the Steaks: Heat olive oil in a hot skillet over medium-high heat and cook the steaks for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust the time to your preferred doneness. Remove the steaks and let them rest to retain juices.
- Sauté Garlic and Red Pepper Flakes: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, careful not to burn the garlic.
- Cook the Shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove shrimp and set aside.
- Prepare the Scampi Sauce: Stir in the remaining butter, lemon zest, lemon juice, and white wine (or chicken broth). Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly and develop flavor. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Combine Steak and Shrimp: Slice the rested steaks and plate alongside the cooked shrimp.
- Serve: Spoon the garlic butter scampi sauce generously over the steak and shrimp. Garnish with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use dry white wine for a more authentic flavor; chicken broth is a good non-alcoholic alternative.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to your spice preference or omit for a milder dish.
- Allowing the steak to rest after cooking helps keep it juicy and tender.
- Ensure shrimp is cooked just until pink to avoid toughness.
- Pair this dish with a side of sautéed vegetables or a light salad for a complete meal.
