Description
A simple and comforting one-pan chicken dish served with creamy buttered egg noodles cooked together in a savory garlic and Parmesan sauce. This recipe delivers tender, golden chicken breasts alongside rich and flavorful noodles, perfect for a quick and satisfying weeknight meal.
Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Sauce and Noodles
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Cook Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper. Place the chicken in the skillet and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Prepare Noodles: Using the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine, then bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Cook Noodles: Add the egg noodles to the skillet, stir them into the liquid, then cover the skillet with a lid. Allow the noodles to cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the noodles are tender and have absorbed most of the liquid.
- Combine Ingredients: Once the noodles are cooked, stir in the butter and grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is creamy and smooth. Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them among the noodles, and heat everything through for 2-3 minutes.
- Serve: Optionally garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a burst of color and freshness. Serve the chicken and creamy buttered noodles hot from the skillet.
Notes
- You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter version, but the sauce will be less rich.
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for best flavor and smoother melting.
- Make sure not to overcook the noodles; check for tenderness at the 8-minute mark.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
