Ingredients
Scale
Lamb Patties
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 2 1/2 tsp dried rosemary
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 2 large garlic cloves, grated or minced
- 1/4 small onion, grated or finely minced
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 large egg yolk
- 3 tbsp plain breadcrumbs (panko works too)
- 1 tsp olive oil (plus 2 tbsp divided)
Dill Greek Yogurt Sauce
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 tsp dried dill
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Assembly
- 1 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
- 15 mini pitas (or slider buns if preferred)
Instructions
- Prepare the Lamb Patties: In a large bowl, combine ground lamb, dried rosemary, dried oregano, grated garlic, grated onion, kosher salt, egg yolk, breadcrumbs, and 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Mix gently until just combined to avoid overworking the meat. Divide the mixture into 15 equal portions, forming each into a ball, then flatten them into small patties to fit inside the mini pitas.
- Cook the Patties: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil. Place half of the patties on the skillet, pressing each gently with a spatula. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove and keep warm. Repeat the process with the remaining patties, adding more oil if necessary.
- Make the Dill Greek Yogurt Sauce: In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, dried dill, lemon juice, 1 teaspoon olive oil, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well to incorporate all flavors.
- Assemble the Sliders: Cut a slit in each mini pita to create a pocket. Place one lamb patty inside each pita, add a generous dollop of the dill Greek yogurt sauce, and layer with thin slices of cucumber. Garnish with extra dill if desired for added freshness and presentation.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve the lamb sliders warm as an appetizer, snack, or main dish. These Mediterranean bite-sized treats are perfect for entertaining or a flavorful quick meal.
Notes
- Be careful not to overmix the lamb mixture to keep the patties tender.
- If mini pitas are unavailable, slider buns can be used as a substitute.
- For extra crispiness, cook the patties in batches without overcrowding the skillet.
- You can use fresh dill instead of dried if preferred, adjusting the quantity to taste.
- The patties can be cooked in advance and reheated in an oven or skillet before assembling.
