Description

This Brown Sugar Garlic Chicken recipe offers a delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors, featuring succulent baked chicken breasts glazed with a rich brown sugar and garlic sauce. Perfect for an easy weeknight dinner, it’s simple to prepare and pairs wonderfully with rice, mashed potatoes, or roasted vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Sauce and Garnish

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Season: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides evenly with salt and black pepper to enhance flavor and promote a nice crust during baking.
  2. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, minced garlic, olive oil, soy sauce, and crushed red pepper flakes if using. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly blended.
  3. Assemble and Bake: Lightly grease a baking dish and place the seasoned chicken breasts inside. Pour the brown sugar garlic mixture evenly over the chicken to coat each piece. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the sauce is bubbling and caramelized.
  4. Serve and Garnish: Spoon some of the delicious sauce over the baked chicken just before serving and garnish with fresh chopped parsley for a burst of color and freshness.

Notes

  • For enhanced flavor, marinate the chicken in the sauce for up to 2 hours before baking.
  • This recipe is also delicious when made with boneless chicken thighs.
  • Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or roasted vegetables to complement and soak up the sweet garlic glaze.
